Stephen G. Charpentier is a trial lawyer of proven experience who has dedicated his skills exclusively to helping injured victims recover from wrongdoers and insurance companies.

After coming to Brevard County in 1965, Steve received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Central Florida. From there he went on to earn his Juris Doctor degree (with honors) in 1981 from Florida State University’s College of Law. He immediately passed his bar exam and became a member of the Florida Bar the same year. Following graduation, Steve spent two years working for an established Brevard County law firm, practicing primarily civil litigation law. In 1983, he joined one of Brevard’s larger firms, where he worked exclusively on plaintiff’s personal injury cases and later became a partner. Steve resigned in early 1989 to start Childress Charpentier, P.A., with Bert Childress.

In addition to being a member of the Florida Bar, Steve is a member of the Federal District Court for Middle District of Florida, the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals, the District of Columbia Bar, State of New York Bar, and is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court. Steve is also a member of the Brevard County Bar Association (president 2005-2006), former chairman of the Florida Bar Grievance Committee for Brevard County, the American Bar Association, the American Association for Justice, the Florida Justice Association (Board of Directors 1991-1992, chairman of the People’s Law School Committee, Membership Committee 2000-2002, chairman of the Nursing Home Task Force 2000-2002, chairman of the Brevard County Legislative Task Force 1999-present). In 1990, 1994 and again in 1997, Steve was presented with the Eagle Talon Award by the Florida Justice Association. In 2000, he was presented with the Silver Eagle Award by the Florida Justice Association for outstanding leadership. Steve has been awarded Martindale-Hubbell’s National Law Directories highest honor-AV rating. This rating is based exclusively on opinions expressed by confidential sources and is the result of extensive review of legal expertise and professional reputation. Steve has been a longstanding member of the Trial Lawyers Section of the Florida Bar.

In addition to his skill and experience in representing injured victims, Steve is involved in the local community. He helped establish and is a co-moderator of the People’s Law School. He is also active in various civic and charity fund-raising organizations including Safe Kids Source of Safety Board. When not practicing law, Steve enjoys spending time with his family. He also enjoys motorcycling, virtually all water sports and is an avid reader.
